Employee Relations Manager (Fixed Term Contract)

Role Overview:
Joining us for 18 months on a fixed term contract, as the Employee Relations Manager, you will be responsible for establishing, setting up and leading the employee relations function in the UK, supporting employees across the UK, Republic of Ireland, and Malta.

The role will work in partnership with the India counterpart,  and lead the establishment of the ER function in the UK, developing processes, frameworks and robust case management efficiencies that align with our global standards and the needs of the UK, Republic of Ireland, and Malta.

This role will primarily operate as an independent contributor, providing expert guidance and hands-on support for complex employee relations matters, including investigations, grievances, and other workplace issues. You will also collaborate closely with our ER team in India and work with HR business partners to ensure a smooth transition of ER work.

The role will be a SME on Employee Relations matters and such will be comfortable interacting and advising a range of stakeholders, and be a key contributor to our Global HR Operations function.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Delivery:  Manage a range of employee relations issues, including conducting investigations, handling grievances, and advising on disciplinary matters, ensuring compliance with local laws and company policies.
  • Function Setup:  Lead the establishment of the ER function in the UK, developing processes, frameworks and robust case management efficiencies that align with our global standards and the needs of the UK, Republic of Ireland, and Malta.
  • Independent Contribution:  Operate as a key independent contributor, providing expert advice and guidance on complex ER issues, while leveraging support from the ER team in India as needed.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:  Work closely with HR business partners and other stakeholders to facilitate the transition of ER work, ensuring a seamless and collaborative approach to employee relations.
  • Policy Development:  Support the development and implementation of ER policies and procedures, ensuring they are fit for purpose and aligned with best practices.
  • Training and Support:  Provide training and support to managers and HR partners on ER matters, enhancing their capability to handle ER issues effectively.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting:  Monitor and analyse ER data to identify trends, inform decision-making, and develop proactive solutions to mitigate risk.
     

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Significant experience in employee relations, ideally within a multinational or complex organisational setting.
  • Comfortable getting “hands on” with ER matters, including supporting with large scale change programmes including redundancy and intercompany TUPE transfers.
  • Proven expertise in handling complex ER issues, including investigations, disciplinary processes, and grievances.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations in the UK, Republic of Ireland, and Malta.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and drive initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in setting up ER functions or processes would be highly advantageous.
  • A collaborative mindset with a willingness to leverage resources and support from our global ER team.
  • Ideally some form of formal HR qualification would be good
