Role Overview/Purpose:
The Tech & CapEx Finance Manager is a key role in the newly formed Centre of Excellence responsible for Global Opex and Operational Excellence. Reporting to the Financial Controller – Tech and CapEx, the role will have ownership for all aspects of Tech & IFRS 16 Lease accounting including the month end accounting process for all areas within the remit of the function.
The manager is expected to provide leadership to others in the finance department through clear communication of responsibilities, guidance when required, training and development where appropriate and proactive performance management.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting and Accounting:
- Ownership of all aspects of Tech accounting including the month end accounting process
- Ensuring accurate reporting is maintained, issues are investigated/reviewed, and the business is challenged
- Responsible for ensuring accounting information is produced and published according to relevant accounting rules (US GAAP, IFRS, Irish/UK GAAP)
- Ensure the accounting and reporting process is managed to achieve set deadlines
- Approval of relevant balance sheet reconciliations ensure reconciling differences are properly followed up and completed by the team
- Provide reports, analysis and information according to set deadlines and customer requirements
- Proactively seek to add value by reviewing and improving reports and analysis
- Operate a robust cost accruals process to ensure that costs are correctly accrued within the time constraints of tight deadlines & proactively manage the processes around balance sheet controls, ownership and review of all balance sheet items owned by retail team
- Timely completion of assigned taxation and statutory reporting obligations
Process and Procedures:
- In conjunction with fellow GFC colleagues, divisional Head of Finance as well as Divisional Commercial teams, look to continually to improve (quality, timely) the monthly accounts close process
- Continuously review processes and procedures in light of changes in systems and in requirements of the business
- Work collaboratively with related finance teams to achieve wider finance/organisational goals and efficiencies
- Pursue opportunities to reduce the monthly close process duration without impacting the quality of the information produced.
- Ensure processes and procedures within area of responsibility are documented and robust
Internal and External Partnership:
- Work with Finance teams within the GFC as well as commercial teams within supported Divisions as part of accounts production / close process to ensure accurate and timely accounting information is produced in accordance with their requirements
- Work with Finance teams to deliver the required information to their business units
- Support Finance teams in the budget and forecasting process to meet Group timelines
- Proactively engage with Internal and external audits when required
- Support related teams within Finance to produce the best outcomes for finance and the company
Education, Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified accountant with 3+ years working in a similar environment with a proven track record in financial reporting/analysis
- Keen attention to detail & drive to improve quality
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to challenge stakeholders & performance manage direct reports
- Ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial staff in a confident and professional manner
- Adept at dealing with high volumes of data and comfortable in a highly automated environment
- Ability to work as part of a team in a dynamic environment
- Experience of Oracle ERP or other similar financial systems an advantage
- Excellent MS Office skills particularly Excel
