Overview
The Group Payments Strategy team is responsible for bringing the ‘Flutter Edge’ to life across the group’s payment activities. Building a clear, multi-year payments strategy and medium-term focus areas that will enable Flutter’s growth ambitions and ensure we continue to meet user needs across our markets. This involves building and maintaining our long-term payments strategy, identifying the delineation between group objectives and what needs to be driven by local teams in each division, as well as actively tracking and supporting the adoption of payment innovations across the world.

As part of the Group Payments Strategy team, within the Group COO function, the Payments Strategy Manager will work with a wide variety of stakeholders across the Group and external third parties to facilitate development and delivery of this multi-year, group-wide payments strategy for Flutter.

This role requires an experienced payments professional to support the Director in the leadership of payments from a global perspective. They will work closely with the local divisional teams and group procurement help coordinate payment activities and strategy development across the group and enable significant commercial growth

Responsibilities

  • Support the creation of a long-term payments strategy with a clear delineation between group objectives and what needs to be driven by local teams in each division

  • Develop strong relationships with the Flutter payments community and divisional leadership teams to enable buy-in to a multi-year Flutter payments strategy with clear sequencing for payment activities, both commercial and technical, and ensure that local plans stay aligned with longer-term ambitions

  • Ensure your role enables and accelerates divisional payment needs while balancing the longer-term group opportunities.

  • Drive the benefits of current payment providers across the group and identify 3rd parties that can drive cost efficiency in the short and long term

  • Balance cost efficiency and customer experience to create long-term growth opportunities

  • Assess the global payments landscape, looking at both the present-day and future developments and understand the impact for Flutter and the local brands/divisions

  • Conduct strategic evaluations to determine preferred strategic options and solutions across the team’s strategy, design and operating model for payments

  • Design and facilitate workshops with senior stakeholders, collating, and assessing data to determine future requirements and strategic choices; developing consolidated outputs to guide stakeholders to make informed decisions by providing adequate and accurate amount of information in a suitable format

  • Conduct research and provide thought leadership across engagements with a focus on Flutters strategic priorities.

  • Gather and collate information to complete detailed evaluations, outlining challenges, opportunities, and solutions to enable future strategies and operating models.

  • Support business case development to support strategy approval

  • Be a trusted, objective strategic partner for making recommendations on critical decisions as required

  • Work with insight and analytics teams to build and maintain key data sets and analyses that underpin our strategic decision making for payments

  • Ensure effective communication and understanding of direction to relevant stakeholders.

  • Tailor and customise information / data at the right level for the audience involved.

  • Produce high quality, Ex-Co ready, outputs, proposals, and status updates.

  • Support the Director, Global Payments Strategy to achieve the overall goals and team goals

  • Evangelise the payments strategy & capabilities internally and externally to all key partners

Skills

  • Strong experience operating in a similar strategic role within a fast-paced, global organisation and/or management consulting required.

  • Organised and self-driven with the ability to independently identify, execute and deliver across a range of activities and projects in parallel

  • Experience in strategy design, operating model design and organisational development required.

  • Strong research, analytical, problem solving and numerical skills.

  • Possess strong business sense and demonstrate ability to quickly assimilate new knowledge.

  • Experience working with senior decision makers and facilitating workshops and cross-divisional activity

  • An excellent relationship builder who will thrive on working closely with internal teams & partners.

  • Detail focused and capable of delivering with a high degree of accuracy while acknowledging the constraints and trade-offs that come from operating within Flutter’s federated business model

  • An excellent, collaborative relationship builder who will thrive on working closely with a wide range of internal teams and partners as well as external third parties to co-ordinate and drive activity across a wide range of payments topics

  • Excellent communication and data-driven storytelling ability with strong interpersonal and organisational skills

Key Requirements/Experience

  • Experience operating within the payments industry/landscape (either for a large-scale payments organisation or a merchant payments team), including knowledge of key market, operational and commercial norms and dynamics

  • You have some experience in developing group-level strategies and achieving wider organisational buy-in.

  • Commercial acumen in a payments environment - experience navigating payments operational data as well as third-party commercial arrangements and industry commercial structures

  • Ideally, experience within the online gaming industry
