Function overview  

The Group Legal and Commercial Function is tasked with the key objective of protecting the Flutter brand, its customers and shareholders. The function comprises a number of core areas including legal, risk, compliance and regulatory - including the Group strategy and roadmap for Safer Gambling – a key component of the Group’s strategy. The Function will influence the strategic direction of the Group’s four Divisions (US, Aus, UK/I and International) by setting the risk appetite and establishing the necessary governance, policies and standards to ensure our legal, risk, compliance and regulatory matters are managed in a robust and agile manner 

Role purpose  

The Group Data Protection team is responsible for facilitating the creation of a culture of data protection compliance, defining the Group’s data protection framework and data protection key requirements, and for monitoring and reporting on the management of Group data protection activities.  

The Group Data Protection Senior Manager will work closely with the Group Head of Privacy & DPO in be providing oversight and advice in relation to data protection for the Group. Working with the Group Head of Privacy & DPO and second line of defence, the role will be responsible for overseeing a data protection framework and policies for the Group. This involves maintaining minimum standards for the Divisions as well as monitoring and reporting across the Group. The individual will be expected to instil a strong culture of ‘compliance through design’ across the Group and to provide guidance and support to the data protection representatives within the Divisions.  

The successful candidate should hold experience in a similar data protection role and have a proven track record of delivering results in a challenging commercial environment. The individual will be capable of delivering results, with and through colleagues and peers, both cross functionally and cross jurisdictionally. The role will require working cross functionally and cross jurisdictionally daily, so cross jurisdictional privacy knowledge is preferred. 


Reporting to the Group Head of Data Protection Data, the Group Data Protection Senior Manager is responsible for assisting the Group Data Protection team in the fulfilment of its daily operational responsibilities. 

  • Maintaining Group’s policies, minimum standard and data protection framework.  

  • Providing dedicated DP support to Group Function departments, such as HR, who are providing shared services to several brands across the Group  

  • Accountable for the overall records of processing activities/ processing inventory process for all departments across Group Functions, including the management of the tooling used to support this work and those that involve the use of AI that ingests personal data  

  • Accountable for the overall process for assessing DP maturity/risks of relevant third-party suppliers 

  • Leading on data protection impact assessments for Group Functions projects/suppliers and/or supporting with data protection assessments relevant to projects/suppliers impacting more than one division and those that involve the use of AI that ingests personal data 

  • Establishing and maintaining trusted relationships with Lines of Defence across Group and Divisions to influence the strategic direction of the Group’s four Divisions 

  • Gaining assurance from Divisions on framework and key requirements deployment and effectiveness 

  • Supporting Group Head of Privacy & DPO and colleagues in designing and monitoring controls and key risk indicators 

  • Assessing risks across the Group and providing strategic direction for Divisions 

  • Preparing data protection reports and addressing queries from senior leadership and the Board, as required 

  • Working with colleagues in other geographical locations, and within the Flutter Group, to enable the development of global standards, knowledge transfer, training and awareness initiatives and best practice 

  • Providing professional advice and support to the Group and Divisions regarding various data protection compliance obligations 

  • Promoting a culture of compliance and integrity across the Group and Divisions 

  • Assisting in any other duties as will be required by the Group Head of Privacy and DPO 

Key Experience  

  • CIPP/E or CIPM or equivalent privacy qualification  

  • Educated to degree level, postgraduate qualification in data protection or related filed desirable 

  • Minimum 7+ years data privacy experience or equivalent experience in the areas of risk or compliance  

  • Assertive and confident, able to operate credibly with senior stakeholders 

  • Data protection experience within a similar size technology business and have a proven track record of delivering results in a challenging commercial environment 

  • Advanced understanding and ability to demonstrate competence with GDPR and international privacy laws 

  • Experience in managing in their entirety data incidents and breaches 

  • Solid understanding of data management, security and controls and risk management 

  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment involving simultaneous, high-priority tasks 

  • Experience working cross-functionally with all levels of management, both internally and externally 

  • Exceptional attention to detail and high levels of accuracy 

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written 

  • Self-starter who can demonstrate initiative
