The role…
The role sits within the Group Strategic Platforms function and is an integral part of the Shared Platforms team. You will lead the strategic process of defining product target architecture and the vision for technical evolution for platforms that are shared cross divisionally. The two current platforms within this remit are gbp and CPP, this could expand further in future.
The Global Betting Platform (‘gbp’), this is Flutter’s flagship proprietary sports betting platform and is being used by multiple Brands across the Group to power delivery of new Sports betting features at pace.
Cross Product Promotions (CPP) is an in-house platform that is currently used by multiple brands in the Flutter group, to support their generosity strategies, allowing to have a centralized way to manage different promotions, bonuses and promotional content across different offers and products.
Working closely with cross-divisional Product, Commercial and Technology teams to deliver quality products and experiences to our customers, you will support design of simple solutions to complex business problems – assuring availability and performance. You will provide ongoing consultation and advice to stakeholders about roadmap features and will lead and implement architectural design best- practices, aiding the company projects' long-term success. Provide technical mentorship and support for architectural design, from individual applications/services to distributed systems design.
What you’ll be doing…

Provide strategic technical direction and vision for the Shared Platforms product architecture

Lead a consistent and holistic approach to technical design across the group by promoting alignment of divisional Architectural designs

Work closely with Technology and Commercial stakeholders from multiple divisions, to ensure technical design solutions enable the platform to become a group asset

Ensure technical design adheres to the Shared Platforms vision

Active & constructively participate in the architecture community across the wider group – driving best practices and contributing to the overall Technology strategy

Develop comprehensive, informative documentation to be used across the different Flutter divisions

Work closely with Strategy and Senior architects to inform strategic technology decision making for the Flutter Group and its divisions

Develop understandings of the systems across the group, their strengths, weaknesses and the relationships and dependencies

Facilitate the creation and on-going maintenance of transparent group-wide artifacts and mechanisms supporting the shared understanding of systems and standards required to operate on significant shared codebases across the group
We’d love to see…

Experienced in designing, documenting and developing highly available, modifiable applications with high throughput expectations

Experienced in distributed systems design

Good grasp of software engineering fundamentals

Ability to properly balance the strategic and the tactical, ensuring the big-picture is not lost

Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written

Understanding of the core GBP and CPP capabilities is a plus
