Role overview
Global Sports Quants is a core function within the Global Trading Tribe of Flutter Group Functions. We are responsible for developing and maintaining sophisticated predictive models in areas such as sports modelling, risk management and automated trading strategies, to service the needs and requirements of the many Flutter brands globally.
The team uses mathematics, statistics, and machine learning methods to provide automated solutions to scale and improve the trading and risk management practices of Global Sports. This enables the Global Trading Tribe to provide cutting edge products to our customers and ensure that all Flutter brands achieve success.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Develop new and existing predictive models to generate accurate pricing and effective risk management decisions.

Display an expertise in quantitative analysis techniques and provide insightful viewpoints on a broad range of problems across the group.

Implement real world applications of statistical models developed. Support from inception, development, delivery, and performance monitoring. Maintain an intricate understanding of the performance level of models that have previously been deployed.

Be a driving force in the Global Sports Quants team, mentoring junior members and leading in their development. Supervise and guide the work of colleagues ensuring work is executed accurately, efficiently and on schedule.

Work with both a high degree of independence and collaboratively with stakeholders in areas such as Trading, Technology, Product and Data to solve a broad range of technical problems across the Flutter group. Bolster relationships, working with colleagues and prioritisation forums to effectively prioritise and deliver modelling requirements through the Global Sports Quants team.

Learn and develop new technical skills as required to contribute to team growth and share knowledge with the wider Flutter group. Take responsibility to continuously develop the necessary skills and techniques required to work with an ever-increasing degree of independence, accuracy, and efficiency.

Develop relationships with other modelling and analytics teams throughout Flutter with a view to share learnings and skillsets and exploring opportunities for collaboration on projects.

Skills, Capabilities & Experience Required

Third-level or postgraduate qualification in a quantitative or analytic discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Actuarial Science, etc. High achievements in Mathematics/Statistics a distinct advantage.

Significant previous experience in a numerate or quantitative role with evidence of developing statistical models and applying them in a real-world environment.

Excellent understanding of predictive modelling techniques including simulation and analytic based methods.

Probabilistic thinker with a highly developed numeracy & technical skillset which facilitates high-quality, efficient & comprehensive analysis.

Ability to query, cleanse, manipulate and analyse large structured and unstructured datasets.

Proficient programming skills and understanding of statistical tools and software packages (e.g. Python, R, Julia, Matlab, C#)

Experience with cloud-based platforms and tooling such as AWS is an advantage.

Experience in sports modelling an advantage.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and ability to cater to relevant audiences.
