Senior Network Engineer

Would you like to help deliver and operate our strategic group platforms, as our new Network Engineer? We have an immediate requirement for an SME to join the OEX team, working on the group Wi-Fi implementation across UK&I locations, becoming a crucial team member driving the global expansion of the solution to all divisions and locations. Ongoing support will be required once the initial rollout is complete, however this is not considered to be the main responsibility of the role.
In addition to the OEX workstream, we have a programme to deliver a Flutter Group AWS Cloud platform, which will underpin the global services consumed by the group's well-known betting and gaming brands.
As part of this role you will work with the cloud infrastructure function to support the build and operation of cloud networking, with the opportunity to become involved in delivery and operation of the wider cloud infrastructure services. The role will contribute to the evaluation and selection of AWS services, code and configuration management tooling and the variety of components required to achieve our group strategic hosting objectives.

What can you expect to be involved in, in your new role?
- Escalation for major Wi-Fi incidents requiring 4th level support where the 3rd party provider requires Networking services beyond the scope of their remit.
- Senior engineer for Wi-Fi as part of the OEX team, from participating in the design to implementation and ongoing support working with a 3rd party provider.
- Support architecture and function leads with developing the Wi-Fi and cloud technology roadmaps and strategy.
- Contribute to the build and operation of a secure, performant, and cost-effective AWS Cloud Platform
- Automate system deployment and operations using Infrastructure as Code and configuration management tooling.
- Maintain source code and artefact repositories.
- Define, document, support, and approve LLDs for Flutter Group network and cloud implementations.
- Act as a trusted SME offering advice and knowledge sharing to the broader technology team and internal customers.
- Create and drive adoption of standard operating procedures, policies, and runbooks.
- Facilitate the development and communication of Flutter Group standards for design, development, and deployment.
- Liaise with other group functions, building and maintaining relationships, and recognising opportunities for strategic collaboration.
- Liaise with Third Party vendors and partners.
- On-call may be introduced in the future.
- Write and review platform code, offering constructive feedback to ensure code quality.
- Enable and support engineering teams with the adoption of cloud services.
- Write and maintain appropriate technical documentation.
- Facilitate the development and communication of Flutter Group standards for design, development, and deployment.
This might be for you if you have:
- Previous experience with the design, implementation and support of Wi-Fi infrastructure including Cisco and Aruba.
- Delivering systems in security compliant environments
- Writing and maintaining technical documentation.
- Sharing knowledge with your peers and across the wider engineering community.
- Working in an agile environment.
- Incident, change, problem, and risk management.
- Building and operating networking infrastructure and cloud platforms, ideally within highly available AWS environments.
- Working with source control management (Git, Github) and CI/CD Pipelines.
- Managing Infrastructure as code using CDK, Terraform, CloudFormation.
- Experience working with enterprise organisations on large-scale migration and modernisation transformation projects, displaying a customer-obsessed and collaborative approach, coupled with a strong technical understanding to provide confidence and answer questions. An ability to engage and help crystallise business benefits of migrations, demonstrate a deep understanding of Network solutions, and a passion for delivering quality as part of two separate teams.
- Bonus points for previous software engineering experience, coding, and automation.
