Programme Manager (Sustainability)

Role purpose:  
The Sustainability Programme Manager will be responsible for co-ordinating the projects and BAU activities to support the governance and delivery of the Flutter Positive Impact Plan.   This will require effective working and co-ordination across multiple teams and disciplines, at group level and within divisions. Whilst reporting to the Head of Sustainability Strategy and engagement, day-to-day you will also work closely with the Heads of each pillar and the Head of Regulatory, consulting, collaborating and supporting them as they deliver on our Positive Impact Plan and Regulatory requirements. This offers a unique opportunity to be involved in a broad range of programmes and projects.   No day will be the same and you will interact with stakeholders across the business, departments and at all levels. You will be an integral part of a small team with big ambitions, and will be responsible for ensuring that clear action plans, programme management, and systems to manage risk and interdependencies are in place to secure programme success.  You will bring a positive attitude, ideas and creativity to the team that match your exemplary project management and problem-solving skills. Critical to your success will be the ability to manage multiple projects sometimes with competing priorities. You will be expected to provide transparent and accurate views of the status of delivery, effectively navigating the path forward and understanding future priorities as our programme evolves.

In addition to strong project management and analytical skills, excellent communication, organisational skills and commercial awareness is important. In addition, an ability to influence, empathise and build relationships, as well as bring other soft skills is required, as the role will require engagement with and success from a wide variety of audiences across the Flutter organisation and external stakeholders. 


Accountabilities:

  • Structure, plan and sequence programmes of activities to deliver the Positive Impact Plan and Regulatory strategy
  • Ensure robust project management in place across each pillar of the Positive Impact Plan and our Regulatory governance,
  • Facilitate decisions, make recommendations including prioritisation and support execution of projects
  • Ensure clear accountabilities for delivery and follow up of actions
  • Manage stakeholder expectations through clear communication
  • Prevent, identify and proactively remove blockers to enable progress of teams
  • Collaborate with the central technology and other group and divisional reporting teams to identify and incorporate technology solutions and drive efficiency and accuracy of reporting
  • Drive continuous improvement in delivery practices
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration and learning across the team

Manage programme risks, issues and dependency management

  • Manage programme/project uncertainty and understand the impact of this on the programme/project delivery
  • Troubleshoot areas of conflict between project resource/dependencies/financial control
  • Influence and challenge the business to shape business cases that drive necessary outcomes and benefits, supporting the business to create benefits realisation plans

Support Effective Engagement with the Positive Impact Plan

  • Work with stakeholders at all levels to increase engagement on the Positive Impact Plan and build working relationships with different functions of the business to improve their understanding of the Positive Impact Plan
  • Driving effective communication and co-ordination to ensure dependencies are understood and well managed in order to deliver the end outcomes successfully
  • Utilising best practice tools and techniques to aid communication and understanding, ensuring project documentation is fit for purpose
  • Ensure broader reporting deadlines are factored into project management
  • Provide appropriate updates and reports to support the broader governance, reporting and communication agenda

Support effective management of the budget for third party spend within the function

  • Establish appropriate structure and processes across the function to ensure budgets are effectively managed
  • Monitor forecast costs versus actual costs and realised benefits as projects and programmes progress

Experience:

  • Experience of managing the delivery of complex business change programmes
  • In depth knowledge of programme and project management methods and principles
  • Experience in establishing new systems and ways of working, across multiple disciplines/geographies
  • Demonstrated ability to build cross functional relationships across business units and corporate functions to influence process or policy changes, successfully engage stakeholders
  • Experience in establishing and managing cross-enterprise reporting processes within a global organisation
  • Experience of betting and gaming industry (or similar) an advantage
  • An understanding of sustainability and the principles of programming within a sustainability framework an advantage

  • Strong communication skills including (but not limited to) writing copy for a range of mediums, putting together reports, preparing and delivering presentations and with the ability to effectively drive fact-based decision making.

  • Comfortable navigating change and uncertainty, able to overcome obstacles
